Amla, Indian Gooseberry - Phyllanthus emblica
Amla powder is tan, with an acidic astringent smell like a combination of raw cranberries and oak tree bark. The amla paste makes hair glossy and silky, enhances waves and curl, and leaves a clean, healthy scalp. Amla can make henna and indigo dye your hair a cooler brunette. Amla is also absolutely fantastic for exfoliating! Best scrub you ever had! When you scrub your face with the paste, your skin feels firm and tight.
Hair conditioning: Mix amla powder with hot water and let sit for 15-30 minutes and apply to your hair. Rinse out carefully after 5-10 minutes. Although amla does not contain much tannines we would not recommend using it over bleached hair.
Body scrub: Mix 1 teaspoon of amla with hot water, wait about 15 minutes, and apply the paste to clean moist skin and scrub. Wash away with cool water. Do a patch-test before use - maybe your skin is very dry or sensitive!
